The perfect solution for filming marine life.

Filming marine life has many challenges especially when scuba diving and UK waters provide even greater obstacles with poor visibility and cold water. Then add the cumbersome underwater video equipment and the effects from a diver donned in a dry suit and noisy air supply scaring the marine life, like Darth Vader with a bad cold.

MarineSee has been developing methods of filming marine life without being invasive.

These include high-definition underwater surveillance cameras that are capable of filming at a depth of up to 45 metres. The cameras are mounted on downward facing tripods and connect to a surface Wi-Fi using an Ethernet umbilical, either direct to a vessel or via a buoy.

A more versatile solution is the BlueROV2 Z CAM Marine Filming System.

The main advantage of this system is that it provides a total solution for capturing natural behaviour in the marine world without the constraints of scuba dive time limits, disturbing breathing noises and frightening diver activities whilst providing a versatile ROV, dual video cameras, cinema quality filming, optimum lighting and battery power which can all fit in the back of a hatchback car.

The main components are:

Blue Robotics BlueROV2 fitted with a heavy lifting kit.

MarineSee BlueROV2 Sled with additional lighting and mounting for the Newton gripper.

Z CAM Camera Pod fitted with a Z CAM E2-M4 and Olympus M.Zuiko Pro f/1.2 Lens.

100mm Laser Scaler to assist with the measurement of subsea items

Blue Robotics Fathom Spool with 100m of polyurethane Ethernet tether which can be disconnected from the ROV using the 8 pin Baromax underwater connector.

MarineSee BlueROV Portable Console which is a bespoke topside solution to control the BlueROV2.

Oculus 2 VR headset  is for viewing the ZCAM live feed via the Virtual Desktop app. which also gives control of the camera’s settings while filming. With the headset on, there is no interference from the sun’s glare.
